The Toronto Marlies defeated the Manitoba Moose 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday night.
In the first period, Tate Singleton scored his first career AHL goal at 7:14. In the second period, Manitoba tied the game at one as Jeffrey Viel scored just 5:13 in to the middle frame.
In the final frame, both teams exchanged chances, but the score remained tied so overtime was needed.
In the extra frame, it was Marlies captain Logan Shaw who sealed the deal with his 25th goal of the season. Dennis Hildeby stood tall in the Marlies crease stopping 27 of the 28 shots he faced.
The Marlies and Moose face-off again on Friday afternoon. Puck drop is at 3:00pm EST on AHLTV.

- Logan Shaw scored the game-winning goal 51 seconds into overtime and earlier recorded the primary assist on Singleton’s first period goal. This was his fifth game-winning goal of the season. He has reached the 50-point mark for the third time in his career (2018-19, 2022-23). Shaw has 51 points (25 goals, 26 assists) in 59 games.
- Nick Abruzzese had the secondary assist on Singleton’s first period goal. He has 44 points (14 goals, 30 assists) in 62 games.
- Alex Steeves registered the primary assist on Shaw’s overtime goal. He has points (2-4-6) in five consecutive games. Steeves has 50 points (22 goals, 28 assists) in 56 games this season.
- Topi Niemelä picked up the secondary assist on Shaw’s overtime goal. He has 34 points (7 goals, 27 assists) in 59 games.

- Matthew Barbolini made his professional debut tonight against Manitoba, recording two shots. He signed a two-year AHL contract with the Marlies on March 23.

On tonight’s game:
It was a little sloppy to be honest but when two teams are fighting for playoff spots, it tends to be a little ultra competitive with defence and not much time and space. I give our guys credit for hanging in there and sticking to it and as far as positives and understanding it was hard, they found a way at the end of the day to win. We got some big saves from Dennis and then obviously a big goal from Tate and then Shaw, it was a heck of play at the end. You could see he was on a mission to get that over with. He knew how important that extra point was and it was one of the best shifts he’s had in a long time as far as three-on-three, it was impressive.
