Marlies Hold On for Win Over Rochester

The Toronto Marlies defeated the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres, by a score of 4-3 tonight from Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto.
Nazem Kadri opened the scoring with his sixth goal of the season at 2:30 of the first period. Ryan Hamilton extended Toronto’s lead with his eighth goal of the year coming at the 5:37 mark of the opening frame. Jake Gardiner recorded two powerplay goals in less than 30 seconds just past the midway point of the game , extending the Toronto lead to 4-0. Rochester would cut the lead in half on Jonathan Parker’s first two goals of the season at 13:44 of the middle frame and 12:23 of the third period. Luke Adam pulled the Amerks to within one with less than a minute left in the game.
The Marlies return to the ice tomorrow afternoon at 3 p.m. when they take on the Abbotsford Heat, AHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames. Tickets are still available and can be purchased by calling the team’s ticket line at 416-597-PUCK (7825).
