Marlies Melt IceCaps With 6-3 VictoryT.J. Brennan Notches Second Hat-Trick in Three Games

The Toronto Marlies defeated the St. John’s Ice Caps, AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets, by a score of 6-3 this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum.
Toronto would open the scoring early in the game when T.J. Brennan notched his fifth goal of the season at 1:45. Brennan would net a second tally just 98 seconds later to give the Marlies a 2-0 advantage. St. John’s responded with three unanswered goals, two coming before the end of the opening period. Andrew Gordon scored the first IceCaps goal at 6:11 followed by Will O’Neill’s first tally of the season at 8:40. Jerome Samson gave St. John’s its first lead of the game with his team on the powerplay at 13:49 of the middle frame. The Marlies would even the game at three at 15:28 when John-Michael Liles scored his team’s second powerplay goal of the day. Wade MacLeod tallied the eventual game winning goal with just under one minute remaining in the period. Stefan Legein and T.J. Brennan added third period goals to give the Marlies a 6-3 victory.
The Marlies return to the ice on Friday, October 18 when they travel to New York for a 7 p.m. game against the Rochester Americans, AHL affiliate of the Buffalo Sabres. Toronto returns home on Sunday, October 20 for the first of 12 meetings with the Hamilton Bulldogs, AHL affiliate of the Montreal Canadiens.
