The Toronto Marlies defeated the St. John’s IceCaps, AHL affiliate of the Winnipeg Jets, by a score of 3-2 this afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum.
IceCaps defenceman Brenden Kichton opened the scoring at 5:04 of the second period. Brad Ross would tie the game on a powerplay at 19:20 of the middle frame. Carter Ashton gave the Marlies their first lead of the game with his team shorthanded at 1:49 of the third period. St. John’s responded just over four minutes later when Andrew Gordon tallied his 10th goal of the season. David Broll notched the game winning goal with just over 10 minutes remaining in regulation.
