Whoooooa! The playoff race is getting tighter and tighter. This is going to be a battle right down to the wire by the looks of it. It was a tough loss to take in Syracuse on Wednesday night, but every game at this time of year is a big one and it’s gut check time for a lot of players. These are the games where you have to dig down deep and try to win every one on one battle and do whatever it takes to help your team win, as the points are so important. This weekend is a critical one with Rochester, Lake Erie and Manitoba as the opponents. They’re all divisional games, and each one of those teams will have something to prove.
It’s also that time of year where new faces keep popping up in the line-up. The welcome mat gets rolled out to Andrew Martens, Jay Rosehill, Ashton Rome and Jeremy Swanson. It happens to every team at this time of year. Swanson now makes the fourth Barrie Colts alumni player to join Toronto’s organization. He took over as Captain in Barrie after Erik Reitz moved on to the Houston Aeros. The others of course are Ryan Hamilton and Todd Perry. Technically you can say there are five Colts alumni members in the organization if you include me.
Thursday is a practice day for the Marlies in Rochester before facing the Amerks on Friday night at 7:30pm.
