Well, it's an historic night in Philadelphia for the Marlies. Tonight will be the final game played by Toronto in the historic Spectrum on Broad Street. Just five games left in the old girl after tonight, and the Phantoms will be no more on their way out of town, and the arena torn down in the fall to make way for Philly Live, an entertainment complex.
I've been working on a video blog tour that takes you through some of the Spectrum and chatted with Joe Paterson, a former Flyer, on the ice as we skated around, and Greg Gilbert on the bench where he has been a coach and visiting player. Great stories and great memories. They don't make them like this any more. Be sure to keep your eyes open for the video blog when it comes out. It's worth the view. Sometimes my job allows me to do some pretty cool things. Skating on the Spectrum ice yesterday and being able to call one of the final hockey games in the building tonight are certainly some things am I fortunate to do.
It's a big game tonight again too! Syracuse is in action and Toronto will have some line-up adjustments.
Adam Munro will start tonight in net with Justin Pogge up with the Leafs, while the Marlies will be without Jiri Tlusty, who took the nasty hit in the boards on Wednesday in Hershey. It will be interesting to see who steps up tonight.
We're on the air with the webcast at 7pm.
