Great Battles In Cup Finals So Far

June 6, 2009

Well, hockey fans are certainly being treated to some great Cup Finals this year in both the NHL and AHL. There is no shortage of excitement that's for sure.

I'm really hoping that the Pens-Wings goes 6 or 7 games. It's just a ton of fun to watch right now, and I would hate to see the series end quickly. There are so many battles and games within the game that it's a thrill to see.

Meanwhile, in the Calder Cup Final, the Bears pulled off an enormous win in Game 1, thanks to a hat trick by Alexandre Giroux. Trailing the Moose 3-1 in the third period, the Bears clawed their way back and forced OT, before Giroux scored the winner, giving Hershey home ice advantage in the series. Then in Game 2, a must win in my mind for the Moose, Jason Jaffray snapped an 8-game streak without a goal, but scoring a hat trick of his own. The key to that was the game winner he scored with just 42 seconds left in the 3rd period to break a 1-1 tie. He added the empty net goal to seal the trick and even the series at 1-1, with the next three games now shifting to the Giant Center in Hershey. Two sold-out crowds at the MTS Centre for the first two games in Winnipeg and the joint was rocking. Game 3 goes Saturday night from Chocolatetown. Park your computer beside your TV like I have been and you can watch both Cup Final games at the same time. AHL Live TV has all the Calder Cup final covered.

Hard to believe we are already into the month of June. Boy time flies, especially when you're not walking. Just keep on chugging down the road to recovery. I'll tell you one thing, you really learn an appreciation for the simple things in life and also come to notice how many buildings and facilities are not that access friendly when you're not walking around on two feet. It gives you a really different perspective on things.
