Bringin' Back Boycer And The Bear

July 23, 2009

No rest for the management staff these days as the club has announced the return of Darryl Boyce and Alex Foster for this season. Two hard working players who will now have their chance to step-up and bring their games to another level this season. I'm looking forward to how they will both progress in their careers.

Boycer returns looking to recapture the magic that saw him make his NHL debut two seasons ago, before a shoulder injury during that game knocked him out for the season. It sometimes takes a while to rebuild your game after that long out. Boyce improved during the second half of last season, and now with a full, healthy summer to train and prepare, should arrive to camp ready to go. I saw him take a skate last week with a few of the boys, and I'd say he looked great, but if he reads this he'll think I'm pumping his tires, so he's gotta earn a plug in the blog. Eh Boycer?

And children across the GTA will be happy to know that Fozzy Bear is back for another year. Clearly one of the more popular Marlies players during our school visits, he's coming off a solid playoff run. His two-way game is his strength, and he'll be able to expand on that this season.

With the Leafs also re-signing Andre Deveaux, the big bodies are still around to keep some size up front for the organization.

There is a really strong mix coming down the pipe. Bozak and Stalberg will look to make their marks as well, so expect some physical play from the start of training camp, as the organization adds some more bite to it's bark.

Hang in their folks when it comes to this summer weather we've had so far. Something tells me it will be a late one this year and we'll have days hovering around the 20 degrees in late October. A man can dream.....
