Leeb Scores In His Return To Toronto Line-Up

(ROCHESTER, NY) - There is a good reason why the Rochester Americans are on top of the North division and they showed why on Friday night.

The Amerks scored a pair of power play goals and added a shorthanded marker in a 6-1 victory over the Marlies at Blue Cross Arena.

Janis Sprukts, Marek Zagrapan, Drew Larman, Clarke MacArthur, Michael Ryan and Dylan Hunter all scored for Rochester. Brad Leeb, who returned to the line-up for the first time since November 11th, scored the lone Marlies goal.

Rochester built an early two goal lead just over three minutes into the game scoring twice within 12 seconds. Leeb got the Marlies back within one on a power play goal that made it 2-1 after 20 minutes.

The Amerks would score a pair of goals in the second to make it 4-1. Then Ryan beat Justin Pogge with a snap shot on the stick side just five seconds into the third period to erase any comeback hopes.

Craig Anderson was solid making 33 saves for the win, while Pogge stopped 28 in the loss.

Rochester had 10 power play chances in the game, while Toronto was 1 for 8 on the man advantage.

Toronto returns home to host the Springfield Falcons on Saturday at Ricoh Coliseum at Exhibition Place. Game time is 4 pm.
